The Association of Student Accommodation in Lucerne (StuWo) was founded on 2 March 2005 by the Fachhochschule Zentralschweiz (now Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts), the University of Teacher Education Lucerne and the University of Lucerne. The town of Lucerne subsequently also contributed some start-up funding, to which it has not set a time limit.
The purpose of the association is to provide low-cost accommodation for students of the three tertiary-level institutions (University of Lucerne, the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the University of Teacher Education Lucerne) and to create an accommodation forum.
